- Front Cover Image - The name Royal Duchy was introduced in January 1955 for 1.30 pm Paddington to Penzance and 11.10am Penzance to Paddington services, this requiring Royal Assent. Here, the Up train is seen passing between Laira shed and carriage sidings behind an unidentified King on Tuesday 8th September 1959. The two auto-trailers on the right were for the North Road & Saltash railmotor services - Plympton station had just closed. Colin Stevens

- Rear Cover Image - Looking eastwards from the road overbridge at Laira with an unidentified King on the 9.30am Paddington approaching along the north bank of the River Plym on Tuesday, 8th September 1959. This train conveyed coaches for the Newquay and Falmouth, with a restaurant car for Plymouth, and shows a variety of liveries amongst its formation. Colin Stevens
