- The 55 photographs presented in this album are almost certainly the work of A.F.Selby and predominately feature the area of the SE&CR around Herne Hill and Bromley.
- The SE&CR was not an especially popular line with railwayists in the Edwardian era and Selby was carrying out much of his photography at a particularly interesting time; the period when the Martley locomotives on the Chatham line were being rapidly replaced by the new Wainwright classes.
