Truly The Great Western
- Truly The Great Western
- Maurice Earley was born in Reading at the turn of the century and has lived there ever since. He is a true railway enthusiast, collecting books and photographs on railway subjects, and has been a railway photographer ever since 1922.
- Living in Reading, a large proportion of his photography was devoted to the Great Western Railway and later to British Rail (Western). Due to the kind reception given to his first book The Great Western Scene, published in 1970, and his subsequent books on the other three regions, it was felt that another book on the Great Western before Nationalisation might be of interest, especially as it covers the period as far back as the twenties - in other words - Truly the Great Western.
