The Power of the A4s
- The Power of the A4s
- The A4 Pacifics were the pinnacle of achievement during distinguished career of Sir Nigel Gresley, the Chief Mechanical Engineer of the London & North Eastern Railway, 1923-1941.
- One of these locomotives, No.4468 Mallard attained a world speed record for steam traction on 3rd July 1938. Fifty years later this record is still held and is unlikely ever to be beaten.
- This album is a pictorial tribute to the Gresley A4 Pacifics from their birth in 1935 to the present time with a number in active preservation. Every facet of their power is graphically depicted.
