on Great Northern Lines
- On Great Northern Lines
- Off the pre-Grouping railway companies, the Great Northern Railway was one of marked contrasts. Its main line to the capital was celebrated for the grace of its locomotives and trains, and in King's Cross it possessed what was to many, the finest of the London termini, even to this day remaining majestic despite the unsightly clutter of buildings which have been added to its frontage.
- Presenting the reader with a journey from King's Cross to Leeds and Bradford, this title depicts in colour the routes of the former GNR system. However, the former GNR secondary routes were amongst the first to succumb to diesel traction and colour are almost unknown. However, a small representation of these lines has been included together with two views of former GNR locomotives that have operated in preservation.
