- ABOUT US
- British Railway Books offer quality new and used British railway publications from pocket timetables and photographs right through to the latest modern traction book or magazine. Much of our stock is out of print and by its very nature is pre-owned i.e. Working Timetables and magazine back issues. Alongside railway publications we also stock a good range of old maps, mainly Ordnance Survey products.
- British Railway Books prides itself on quick and efficient service, high stock availability and safe, secure packing via Royal Mail.
- We are able to carry out product searches on behalf of our customers with no obligation to buy upon a successful search.
- ENQUIRIES and ORDER PROCESS
- All items listed are pre owned unless stated otherwise. We do not like to say secondhand as that infers poorer quality. In truth many pre-owned titles are just that, they were originally purchased from the publishers by someone else prior to being acquired by ourselves and have spent a life on the bookshelf untouched.
- If you are interested in any item on the site either click on the 'Enquire or Order' to send an email, phone or write to us. On receiving an enquiry we will confirm availability and total cost, so please provide us with your contact details.
- Ordered items are held for 7 days pending receipt of payment. Please notify us if there will be a delay in payment.
- PAYMENT
- Overseas Buyers - Overseas orders can be made via Credit Card or PayPal. I will except cheques as long as they are drawn on a UK bank
- Credit Cards - I am able to take credit cards
- PayPal - Orders can be paid for via PayPal.
- Cheque - If paying by cheque please make it payable to Mr G.Johnson, drawn on a UK bank only.
- Cash - You may pay by cash but I am unable to be responsible for its safe arrival!
- Postal Orders - If paying by Postal Order please make it payable to Mr G.Johnson.
- Book Tokens - We do not accept Book Tokens, sorry
- PRIVACY POLICY
- Financial Data - We do not retain any financial data of any kind other than a record of the order details (order contents, postal info and total paid). If you have any further questions please contact us and we will be happy to answer them.
- Personally Identifiable Data - We retain your contact details and email address for our records only in relation to your order/requests. We record on our computer system the name, address and information concerning the purchases made. This information is used purely to enable us to handle orders and to make relevant information available to customers. We do not supply any of your personal data to other companies or individuals and will only use it to contact you in relation to an order, search request or mail-shot.
- Post and Email Communications (Mail Shot) - We will only send these type of communications to you if you have expressed a preference to receive them. If you wish to be removed from this list please contact us.
- Customer Initiated Correspondence - If you send us correspondence, including emails and letters, we retain such information in the records of your account. We will also retain customer service correspondence and other correspondence from British Railway Books to you. We retain these records in order to keep records of our relationship
- Viewing Or Ammending Your Information - If you wish to view or amend any part of your data please contact us.
- POSTAGE & PACKING
- UK Postage Options - UK mainland items are posted by the most cost-effective option, usually 2nd Class for items under a Kilo and Standard Parcels for bulkier items over a Kilo. If you wish a different service please let us know.
- Overseas Postage Options - Overseas parcels are usually sent via Airmail though where cost is an issue Surface Mail can be used if you prefer. If you wish a different service please let us know.
- Packing - We seal all items inside clear plastic sleeves then inside either a padded envelope sometimes double or box as appropriate.
- Insurance - Postal insurance can be added at the appropriate Post Office rate and this option should be stated at the point of order.
- Despatch - items are usually sent within three days of payment. You will be notified when payment has cleared and your purchase has been despatched. All I ask is that you confirm safe arrival of your order.
- Non-Delivery - All orders are sent with Proof of Posting unless Recorded Delivery or similar option was requested and 'lost' items will be refunded or replaced were appropriate.Please allow 28 days from inital despatch before claiming your order as lost. Royal Mail will not start to undertake an investigation until this time has elapsed, generally most items thought to be lost are actually delayed and do arrive at their destination. I can provide Proof of Postage if you wish to take up the baton yourself. We have nothing bad to say about Royal Mail (Contrary to most peoples thinking), they have provided us with an excellent service, goods usually arrive early or on time and they are to be congratulated.
- RETURNS, REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS
- Refunds - If an order has been supplied correctly and you decide to return it we will refund the purchase cost but not the postage. Please ensure all items are packed carefully and Proof Of Posting is obtained at the point of despatch as we are unable to refund an item if it is damaged. Please note DVDs & Videos are non returnable unless faulty.
- Returns - If the product you have bought from us is faulty or damaged please return it to us for a replacement or refund.
- Cancellations - If you wish to cancel an order and no cost has been incurred in procurement of that order there will be no charge.
