- 14 War Report: Whitby 1940 - There were so many 'hit and run' attacks out of a clear sky, particularly on the East Coast, that by no means all of them are recorded in the standard reference works, This is one more anonymous attack, terrifying at the time but quickly lost in the urgency of the national situation
- 16 Fourum: Blaenau Festiniog, 4 July 1951 - R.C.Riley braved the vast rearing heaps of slate to record a calm and gentle interlude at Blaenau
- 18 Glasgow Pairings - Many meetings in what was probably the most remarkable British city for steam locomotives, London excepted, maybe. One spectacle it had, however, that was all its own - pairs of WD 2-8-0s dragging trains of iron ore up from the river with an awe inspiring display of thunderous, blasting exhaust
- 20 The North Cornwall Railway: An Outline by Leslie Tibble - A relaxed account of the lines straggling out into the west of Okehampton to far-off Padstow and Bude. A handful of lonely trains kept together a long strung out community, bringing in the stuff of life, from newspapers and jam to coal and beer and taking out the region's produce, anything from slate to snared rabbits.
- 28 More Heiron
- 30 Ther and Back Again
- 32 Smoke over Hornsey by Peter Groom - BRILL goes scientific, with research into the soot deposited on the long-suffering north London suburb of Hornsey in the early 1950s - though surely the residents would gladly swap the intermittent out pourings of a few J50s for the level of traffic pollution that they, and many of the rest of us, live with today. The investigation hoped to seem (to the residents of Hornsey at least) unerringly precise but with four petri dishes about the local streets translated into monthly tons per square mile the whole exercise was a bit laughable .
