The Didcot, Newbury & Southampton Railway
- The DN&S Railway

- This history attempts to trace the story of the DN&S Railway from the early years, taking the reader from the rain soaked field just outside Newbury in which the first sod was turned, through the bitter for a direct link with Southampton, the endless arguments with the GWR and LSWR. its wartime heydays and ultimately on to its decline and closure.
- The authors have spent many years assembling the material contained in this volume. It is a culmination of much painstaking research involving extensive and detailed study of archives as well as interviews with many of the staff who worked on the line.
- This should not merely be taken as a railway history but should be looked upon as a means by which the reader may share the experience of those who built the line and those who worked on it.
